I had the idea for 1click2cook, in November 2005, after watching a very well known celebrity chef in an advert..he was telling me..not to be boring next time I went shopping..and buy something new!!

What a thought, window shopping on a Saturday in the supermarket! As a busy Mum working full-time, I'd been cooking most evenings for 18 years and had grown to resent the time it took to find new recipes every week and then make them into a shopping list. On occasion, I'd also found myself in the supermarket on a Saturday, hoping I wouldn't see anyone I knew..because my trolley had so many packet meals in!! These were an easy option after a really busy week, when I had simply run out of time to plan in advance.

After watching this advert, I found myself thinking what a great idea it would be to create a website, which would take all the effort out of the boring bits.choosing what to eat week after week and making the shopping list.

I've spent the last year creating the site and you'll see how straightforward it is to use and I predict that you'll be delighted at how much time and effort you can save. I'm delighted that we can inform you about how and where to buy and sample local fresh food. If your area isn't included, we shall be adding more local food 'partners' to the site from around the UK..so keep watching for developments!

Having Dawn, our Nutritional Therapist, featured on the site, is another great benefit for our members. Her no nonsense approach to nutrition has helped me to make subtle positive changes to my family's eating habits, without them realising. I now feel very confident, that our diet includes fresh, varied and healthy food AND it's effortless!

I'd love to hear from you, whether it's to tell me you're thrilled you discovered us, or to suggest ways we can improve...ENJOY the site and please tell your friends!!

When Gill first told me about her idea for 1click2cook it really struck a chord!

My life is pretty hectic with a demanding full-time job and a disabled partner to care for at home. I have to admit that with all my other commitments, mealtimes had fallen to the bottom of the priority list. Our weekly diet basically consisted of pre-packed ready meals destined for the microwave. I was caught in this rut..feeling guilty about how unhealthy and tasteless the food was . but without time or energy to plan an alternative.

The prospect of a website that could do all that planning for me was like a breath of fresh air! 1click2cook would come up with recipe ideas, customized to my profile, generate the shopping list & then send me that perfect little package in an email - everything on a plate!

I loved the idea of the profiled approach too because, as you've read, I was a virtual stranger to the kitchen - not exactly a domestic goddess. By setting my profile to select only 'straightforward' recipes, I've been able to cook excellent meals that were so simple to prepare and healthy too.

It's great to see the 1click2cook concept finally out there in the public domain. I've really enjoyed working with the team on this - everyone's so committed and passionate about the product. I'm sure you're gong to be passionate about it too once you give it a try!

Dawn Waldron, Nutritional Therapist

I'm on site to share my passion for healthy food. I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer at age 33 (and with a 2 year old daughter). I was madly busy running my own business and trying to bring up a toddler. I tried to eat healthily but, to be honest, much of the 'healthy food' we were eating was processed: I now know it was far from healthy because it was far from fresh. Ten years on, I'm really lucky to be here and I'm on a mission to share what I've learned. I went back to college for 4 years, re-trained as a Nutritional Therapist and I now run a clinic in Southborough and teach in London. Life is good... too good to waste.

Healthy eating isn't all about soaking lentils and knitting your own yoghurt. Many of us have bought into the line that we're 'too busy to cook'. It's a strong media message that is exactly what food processing companies want you to believe. The recipes on this site are easy to prepare, quick to cook and made with fresh ingredients that are 'not mucked about with'. Most of us can stay healthy on a home-cooked diet that sticks to these simple ideas.

There's something deeply satisfying in knowing that you are giving your family the right food. We're all stretched, juggling busy schedules and trying to keep everybody happy. A healthy diet will support you too by boosting energy and immunity as well as supporting hormone balance so that you can make the most of life.

I've looked at each recipe on the site and rated them in terms of fat, fibre, carbohydrate and salt content. All the recipes show how many points towards your all-important '5 a day' you are getting. Armed with the weekly shopping list produced by 1click2cook you're in a great place to start shopping and cooking for a healthier life.
